If you have questions please contact: birgit.peter@univie.ac.at

The University of Vienna endeavours to ensure that its websites comply with the Web Accessibility Act (WZG) as amended to implement Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 October 2016 on the accessibility of the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies (Official Journal L 327 of 2 December 2016, p. 1).

This accessibility statement applies to the following subdomain of of the University of Vienna: hots.univie.ac.at

Status of compliance with requirements

Due to the incompatibilities and exceptions outlined below, the websites are partially compliant with the guidelines for accessible web content.

The underlying criteria are based on WCAG 2.1 conformance level AA and the European standard EN 301 549 V3.1.2 (PDF).

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is not accessible for the following reasons.

Incompatibility with accessibility regulations

  • The website is built up on the Content Management System Drupal and therefore relies on the adaption of the WCAG 2.1 criteria by the development team of Drupal. Most of the criterias are implemented but it could be that in some cases there are shortcomings in the implementation. Such problems can be reported in the issue queue of Drupal and will be handled further on. A description of how to proceed when discovering such issues are explained in this dedicated website of Drupal, where you also get a reference to the issue queue.

  • For the website there is an adapted design/theme in use. As this design is still in development there are currently some incompatibilities in place. Especially this is true for display on mobile devices. We are aware about empty headers, labels and links.

This statement was prepared in June 2026.

The assessment of the websites' compliance with the Web Accessibility Act implementing the requirements of Directive (EU) 2016/2102 was carried out in the form of an internal accessibility audit according to WCAG 2.1 at conformity level AA in June 2026.
